The Academy of the Holy Names, or AHN, in Albany, New York, USA, is a Middle States accredited Catholic girls' college-preparatory school for ages pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. It is located within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany. The school was founded in 1884 by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. In 2013-2014, enrollment was approximately 315 students. The mission of AHN is to prepare its students to become cultural, intellectual, moral, and spiritual leaders. == History== The Academy of the Holy Names first opened its doors on September 10, 1884, when it was called the Academy of Notre Dame. The school has relocated several times, each time within the city of Albany. Its first location was on Hamilton Street, when it was known as the Academy of Notre Dame. Less than a year later, the school moved to Madison Avenue. In 1889, five years after its opening, the school was renamed as the Academy of the Holy Names. In 1957, the school moved again; this time, to New Scotland Avenue.
